Presenting:
Superintendent Julian Platt
Julian is the Deputy National Coordinator for CT Protect and Prepare. He works out of CTPHQ New Scotland Yard coordinating International Protect & Prepare, NaCTSO, CT Armed Policing, National CBRN Centre and the Organisational Development Unit (ODU).
Prior to this, Julian was the Operational lead for the Lancashire’s Specialist Operations portfolio. As part of this work he delivered a Firearms uplift in resources, was Deputy Chair of the Lancashire Resilience Forum, lead for Civil Contingencies Planning and sat on North west Protect and Prepare. He is a Gold Firearms Commander, CBRN Commander and Multi Agency Gold Incident Commander (MAGIC).
Barrie Millett
Director of Assurance
Barrie is Director of Assurance at Mitie and prior to this has worked in and lead Corporate Security teams for over 16 years in large multinational organisations.
Prior to this he was a consultant providing global risk management leadership to a variety of organisations. He began his career as a Royal Marines Commando.
He is West Midlands Chairman for CSSC and Honorary Life Vice-President of ASIS International’s dedicated UK Chapter.
Daniel Webb
Enterprise Risk Assurance Manager
Daniel’s experience and knowledge is taken from a career in security and intelligence.
As a member of the Intelligence Corps, British Army, he specialised across the spectrum of counter-terrorism and counter espionage.
After leaving the military he became a security consultant, working alongside national law and government departments to deliver specialised security advice and guidance as well as managing security transformation projects.
He has been part of Mitie’s Group Risk team for the last two years and he has been a key part of developing the Covid response and recovery strategy.
Ian Carter
Group Head of Risk
Ian Carter is the Mitie Group Head of Risk, which also includes firm-wide oversight of corporate security, business continuity and assurance. He is a former Chief Police Officer with the Metropolitan Police with over thirty years’ service in both detective and operations departments. For the last five years of his service he was a Commander with roles focusing in Operational Policing and Counter Terrorism and was the Director of Protective Security and Director of Aviation Security.
On top of his Metropolitan Police role he also had several national security responsibilities including the National Counter Terrorism Security Office, the Association of Chief Police Officers Terrorism Committee operational and support teams and was the Counter Terrorism lead for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games until leaving the police. He is a renowned Gold Commander, an experienced senior investigating officer (leading investigation into murder and serious crime), as well as being a firearms commander and commander for public order and sporting events.
Since leaving the police he has further developed his experience and knowledge through consulting, advisory support and professional services, working with the global companies PA Consulting, McKinsey & Co and Deloitte.
